A Seven Day Trip

We took off on a wedding anniversary trip  for a week to Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg towards the end of October. A forty-two year wedding anniversary celebrated in seven days just the two of us.

We booked a site at Bear Cove Village in Pigeon Forge one mile from Dolly Wood and walking distance to the center town trolley to ride to all the destinations we were interested in.

Bear Cove Village was nestled down in a valley right off a main drag but was quiet and mountainy.

It had a great little store for unique souvenirs to take home. For some reason I always look forward to what the campground stores have to offer. I spend way too much time and money in them.

Every morning and evening a walk around the RV park for the Poochie Dog brought us upon the bear group welcome sign.

The first day/night we visited The Island in Pigeon Forge. We took the trolley there. It was decorated for the fall.

At dusk the lights began to show.

The night lights here were pretty. The fountains flowing to a music show every hour.

I rode the wheel by myself.

We went to DollyWood. We've been before years ago on a family vacation when the kids were small. A lot of it was as I remembered it.

It was a nice day out to walk (and walk and walk and walk) and eat and look at all the sights in DollyWood.

We took the trolley everywhere and on one day we "trolley-ed" to Gatlinburg.
It's a sweet trolley ride for 75 cents each way. No fighting the traffic in your own vehicle.

We mostly walked the Gatlinburg strip, weaving in and out of the shoppes. And eating lunch and indulging in ice cream and fudge shoppes.

We toured Ripleys Aquarium. I liked the shark exhibit with the under the tank tunnel. It was a shark attack.

One day we drove to Wears Valley. A nice drive thru the outskirts of Pigeon Forge. Country side views of farm land.

And country stores to stop and browse in.

It turned into a bear siteing kind of day. Not real bears though. This was a gigantic bear made and spray painted from hay bales in front of a country store.

There were craftsmen all along the way making wood bears of every size and design. So we began a mission to find the perfect crafted bear to take home.

Another day we drove thru the Smokey Mountain National Parkway. Always a beauty to see.

We may make this our yearly fall / leaf changing season / wedding anniversary / week vacation celebration.

Happy Anniversary to us!
